Justice / Rockstar Games
Rockstar Games has handed the keys to Grand Theft Auto VI‘s original score to Justice. The French electronic duo made up of Gaspard Augé and Xavier de Rosnay is composing the music for the most anticipated game of the decade, and marked the occasion with a striking first statement: ‘Flower in a Hurricane,’ a track featuring Tame Impala, SZA and King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard, released on October 15 alongside the game’s launch trailer.
The pairing makes more sense than it might first appear. Since breaking through in the mid-2000s, Gaspard Augé and Xavier de Rosnay have built their identity on maximalist visuals, glossy artwork, a cross-shaped logo and arena-ready synth riffs. That is exactly the vocabulary Rockstar reached for to soundtrack its own world, a studio equally known for its obsessive visual detail and carefully curated soundtracks.
A track built to carry a trailer on its own
‘Flower in a Hurricane’ runs the full length of the launch trailer, an unusual choice for Rockstar, which typically stacks multiple songs over this kind of footage. The track moves in waves, layering Justice’s electronic textures under the intertwined voices of Kevin Parker (Tame Impala) and SZA, with King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard’s bass and drums pushing underneath. The result lands closer to tense psychedelic pop than to a simple scoring cue.

The song won’t stand alone. It will appear on Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album, a 34-track compilation of original music due on Atlantic Records alongside the game’s release on November 19. Rockstar has also confirmed a separate score album, composed entirely by Justice, without giving a release date yet.
Justice, no stranger to crossing into gaming and sport
This isn’t the duo’s first brush with a gaming or sports universe: Justice had already contributed to the soundtrack of EA Sports FC 27, alongside SDM and Disiz. But the scale of the GTA VI project is a different order of magnitude. The game, billed as one of the most closely watched entertainment launches in history, is about to turn its soundtrack into a global showcase for the artists involved — a spotlight rarely given to a French act at this level of visibility in gaming.
For Justice, whose last album Hyperdrama came out in 2024, scoring a game is a different exercise from making a record: it means soundtracking hours of gameplay, contrasting urban moods and action sequences, well beyond the usual song format. The duo had already shown a taste for long-form, commissioned work in the past, between film scores and full catalogue remixes.
The key facts
- Justice is composing the entire original score for Grand Theft Auto VI, out November 19.
- The single ‘Flower in a Hurricane,’ featuring Tame Impala, SZA and King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard, has soundtracked the launch trailer since October 15.
- The track will appear on Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album (34 tracks, Atlantic Records).
- A separate score album, composed entirely by Justice, has been announced without a confirmed release date.
It remains to be seen how this commissioned work will shape the duo’s next chapter. One thing is certain: the game’s November 19 release will hand Justice one of the widest platforms any French electronic act has ever been given.
The timing also says something about how game studios now approach music. Where a blockbuster soundtrack once meant a handful of licensed hits dropped over cutscenes, Rockstar has instead commissioned a named act to build a cohesive sonic identity for the whole game, the same way a film studio hires a composer. For Justice, long associated with the dancefloor and the festival stage, that means writing music meant to sit underneath hours of driving, dialogue and action rather than to headline a set — a different kind of songwriting discipline, even if the duo’s signature sound is still clearly audible in ‘Flower in a Hurricane.’
